When did skateboarding change your life?

Summer 1998, twenty years ago.

What is your favorite trick and why?

Switch & Nollie flip most likely. 360 Shuvs and Frontside Flips. Fs Feeble on a rail feels pretty good too.

With skateboarding in the Olympics, do you think skateboarding can prostitute itself or lose the true essence?

I don’t think it a bad thing, there has always been the competitive side of skateboarding. I’m not into it but I don’t think it’s bad either.

When was the first time you won a skateboard contest & how did you feel?

Won a local contest when I was 18 or 19 years old. It was fun I guess, felt super weirded out.

Skateboarding and music are very connected to each other, what do you like to listen to while skateboarding?

Normally I don’t listen to music when I’m skating, cannot deal with headphones but I like Joy Division, Mazzy Star, Daniel Johnston, Tom Waits, etc.

Do you prefer to shred in the streets or skateparks? Why?

Streets. If I feel lazy I’ll go to the skatepark. There is this DIY park called “Urheilujuomapuisto” where I go sometimes. Love the street section. Otherwise on the streets trying to get some clips.

Have you ever thought of giving up skateboarding? Why?

Never. Not an option. Lifetime deal.

What inspires you to shred and evolve every day? Fame or just fun?

Fun for sure. In it for fame? Wrong business, buddy. Skateboarding itself gets me hyped. Certain video parts inspire me greatly. Music and art play a huge role too. I just really like to see people do gnarly stuff. Real devotion shines thru.

What’s your daily routine before you go shred?

I have a fulltime job so Monday to Friday can get busy sometimes. On weekends I like to wake up relatively early, have a couple of cups of coffee, watch some skating, maybe read a little bit. Make some good food before the sessions. Usually, I like to go out skating somewhere around 12-2 pm and just skate the whole day.

Any inspiring words you want to tell the next generation of skaters?

Have fun & don’t get hurt. Best regards, Anton
