What got you into skateboarding?

It was 2002.  My neighbor was outside skating a new ‘think’ board he got as a gift and I asked, “what are you are doing?”  … “‘Trying to ollie,” he said. Not knowing what he was talking about, he showed me a video he got with the board. It was Think – Free at Last, vol. 1.  Been hooked ever since.

What is your skate scene like in your city?

El Paso, TX has a great skate scene that is always growing.  Lots of good people and great skateboarders, and like most skate scenes around the world – very welcoming.  Lots of spots and beautiful sunsets. A place everyone should visit and experience for themselves.

What is your go-to trick to start your sesh?

Front-side shuv it all day, every day.

Do you feel skateboarding has changed your life? And how?

Yes, skateboarding taught me many things.  How to take a fall and get back up.  Patience, perseverance, and determination.  Basically, never give up in life no matter what.

What pro skater inspires your skateboarding?

Miles Silva, he makes skateboarding look so easy and smooth. Shit, sometimes I think he’s not even trying how easy it is for him. Hah, a joke. He just has so much style he hypes me up to skate every time I watch his parts. But all the pros inspire me in some way.

Do you prefer watching skate videos on social media or buying it? Why?

Social media, because it’s there and although I love to support buying videos, which I still do, social media is a more natural medium for spreading hype.

What is the gnarliest trick you have ever done? How did you feel when you landed it?

Was back home – Nollie Lazer, down a 3-stair flat-to-drop, AKA 3-drop.  First, try, but had been there 3 times before and never could roll away.  It was weird, after multiple days – blood, sweat, and broken boards. Then first T? Why so easy now? I was super hyped but in shock, in a form of disbelief. Now that I think about it maybe that’s what success is supposed to feel like. But shit, I don’t know, felt good is all I’m saying.

Tell us a little bit about your local skate shop & what they do for the skateboard scene?

Forus Skate shop is a shop built by skateboarders for skateboarders.  Those who have a dream that wants to share it with those of similar dreams.  Dreams of being a part of not just a family but one of the biggest movements around, because, make it or not it’s all about the love for the board. That’s what Forus Skate shop does, gets you a board and welcomes you to the skate family. A worldwide family. @forusskateshop

What is your daily routine before you go shred?

Got to have a bowl of Wheaties 🙂

Any inspiring words you want to tell the next generation of skaters?

No matter how tough it gets, mentally physically or emotionally – never give up. One more try, this one’s it,  …next try. You know what I’m getting at. Keep it real, skate fo ya’ self. Oh yeah, and make sure you are having fun doing it. #skatelife
