Where are you and your band from?

We’re from Washington DC

What type of music did you hear the most growing up?

We probably heard those 90’s radio/alt rock bands with the same sensitive lumberjack singer most.  But because we didn’t like that stuff we listened to Dis chord Records bands, Fat Wreck Chords and Epitaph Records bands, and a bunch of classic rock, pop, soul, rockabilly, reggae, jazz etc.

What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

A career?  We thought this was just a black hole for money, time, and relationships.  We just love writing and playing music and are compelled to do so whether we become the next Def Leppard or whether it means our utter personal destruction.

What sets you apart from other bands/artists today?

Compared to other punk bands today we think we’re coming from a really different place.  Our music and lyrics are rooted in traditions that seem to have left behind by most.  More piss and vinegar, and less self-pity than most of our fellow travelers.

For those who have never seen or heard your music before, how would you describe your music for the public audience?

70’s-style punk with undertones of classic rock, pop, and reggae.

If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it best fit?

Were a punk band.  Let’s keep it at that.

Are there any stories surrounding your songs that you’d care to share?

Punk Rock Blacklist is about our experience dealing with insularity and ideological intolerance in the DC punk scene.

What do you do with your time away from music?

We’re all working stiffs. Drew and Alex are engineers, Stephen does computer coding, and Sean plays drums full-time. Other than that Drew is an aspiring amateur boxer and reluctant vape-user, Alex plays N64 and is a part-time fast-food connoisseur, Sean worries about societal collapse and collects dank memes, and Stephen’s a chess grand-master or something.

Any upcoming shows/tours/news?

People near DC should come out to our album release show at The Black Cat on June 30th, and everyone else should catch us on Warped Tour in July.  – MB
