Roller Sports DO NOT represent Skateboarding
PETITION AGAINST THE MERGER OF SKATEBOARDING WITH ROLLER SPORTS
Skateboarding has no voice within World Skate
World Skate is authoritatively and disrespectfully forcing a merger of Skateboarding and Roller Sports national federations.
We are the only Olympic sport within World Skate. We brought a huge audience to the Olympics and, even so, we remain voiceless within the international federation.
At World Skate congresses, where all decisions are taken, the Roller Sports have 678 votes against only 11 votes for Skateboarding.
Nowadays, World Skate feels entitled and empowered to say who will represent Skateboarding in each country!
United by Skateboarding
We understood that in order to reach the Olympics we needed to organize ourselves and, at that moment, be part of a sports organization already affiliated with the IOC.
But Skateboarding has always been known for being a flag of the counterculture, for its lifestyle and much more for its independence. We are unique, we are different and we will always keep those characteristics. And that’s what brought us here.
We are going to demonstrate that the attempt to dominate Skateboarding by other sports will be frustrated and, in the future, it will be classified as one more obstacle that we have overcome in our history.
Skateboarding will remain firm and against any attempt to silence us, including the persecution of our representatives, who carry our message and share our interests and wishes.
Disregard for skateboarding
World Skate has missed the deadline for Para-skateboarding (adaptive) to enter the Los Angeles Paralympics. Now we will have to run after a new attempt to register, but only for the Olympics of 2032!
World Skate has not entered any other Skateboarding modality for 2028, but has entered 2 (TWO!) roller skate modalities.
World Skate does not have a calendar of events for the qualifying cycle for the Paris 2024 Games.
It is also common knowledge that the president of a national Skateboarding federation was arbitrarily suspended, on the grounds of criticizing the “work” of World Skate, in a judgment with 6 votes, 5 of which were people involved only with Roller Sports.

We, the undersigned skateboarders, are sorry to see this whole scene we live in being invaded by decisions contrary to our Skateboarding and in a total damage to the world skateboarding scene.
But we are solid that Skateboarding is much more than all that. The Olympics is a huge event and, precisely because of the size of our exposure, we need to be extra careful about how we are represented there.
We are claiming to keep skateboarding in the hands of those who care about skateboarding.
Skateboarding belongs to skateboarders.
