My Pronouns are NBD and ABD

Before I get into this, let me just make it clear that skateboarding is my life, I met all of my friends because of skateboarding, I have managed to stay active thanks to skateboarding, and I am a major consumer of everything skateboarding related.  If you follow my meme page, you probably know that almost everything I see or hear nowadays makes me think of a skateboard related meme.

All of that being said, what the fuck is wrong with this thing that I have devoted my life to. The virtue signalers tout skateboarding as this all accepting, inclusive pastime that is for everyone, believe it or not, I do think there is room for everyone in skateboarding, but I’ll be damned if I don’t make fun of everything that I think is funny or wrong with skateboarding, if that is too much for you, good luck lasting as a skateboarder, because there are challenges that are way more intense than getting your feelings hurt when it comes to being a skateboarder.

The same virtue signalers mentioned above that say skateboarding is for everyone are the same people that get their panties in a bunch when somebody does a trick that is an “ABD” at (insert overplayed LA spot here). And for some reason unbeknownst to me, everyone follows along with this unwritten rule in a world where there are supposed to be no rules. Who gives a shit!

Who says I don’t want to see Decenzo tre flip the Davis gap because I know he could, and it would be epic ender for a veteran like him. 

People are the same way with songs in videos or video parts, who the fuck cares if someone used it, if it’s a good song and you like it, run that shit. Since this is actually a real thing taken into consideration when editing a part nowadays, we end up with a garbage song or shitty soundtrack to a part or video because all of the good songs that really go with skating are “ABDs” GTFOH…

If you want to impress me with a part, then let’s see you skate to an already used song and do some of the same tricks at the same spots as someone else because you like that song and you like the way those tricks feel, a true skateboarder doesn’t give a shit what people think about them. Fuck it, go the extra mile and try to recreate one of those ground breaking parts exactly the way your favorite skater did it. Even though that would be an homage, it would be considered whack by the same people that say “skating is for everyone”

Life hack: when playing a game of skate with the homies and someone sets a trick that you have no fucking chance in landing, just say you don’t want to try it, because it’s ABD (even if it was ABD 30 seconds ago). Show them that you are a core skater and you know that doing a trick that is an ABD is whack and you wouldn’t dare stoop to that level.

Don’t think that I’m not a fan of progression because I think it’s ok to repeat an ABD at a spot, I get hyped when I see an actual NBD at a spot. At this stage of skateboarding history, if you have the talent to do an actual NBD, you might just make it in skating. The thing with NBDs, is even though you haven’t seen it, doesn’t mean it has never been done. I follow NBD archive on Instagram because it is interesting to see who did what first, at least on a video that was seen by the community. I’ve been around for a while and my original friend group has a few guys that did what we thought at the time was an NBD, just because we had never seen anyone do it. The hardflip is a good example, we called it a frontside varial kickflip when we were trying it before seeing Daewon do it in Lovechild.

The point of this is who cares if its ABD, whoever did it first deserves their credit, but it shouldn’t be off limits to repeat a trick at a spot if that’s your favorite trick, who the fuck cares
