Tell us about your new single, “Alarm Bells (Never Drinking Again).”

Alarm Bells is a light hearted and humorous song, based around a silly riff.
At first I had some heavier words written, but it just didn’t feel right singing sad words over something so playful sounding.

Is there a lyric you’d like to highlight?

“Tomorrow I’m sleeping in.” ….Because I like sleeping in.

How did you first come together as a solo artist?

I was always in a band, and usually we’d write our songs collectively. When I started coming up with ideas for songs that didn’t match the style we were going for, I decided to start singing them on my own. At the time I was also starting to play solo gigs as a cover act. Eventually this just made sense.

Describe your sound in 3 words.
Laid Back Rock
What inspired “Alarm Bells (Never Drinking Again)”?After deciding to take a more lighthearted approach to the song, the words came together pretty quickly. I guess it was inspired by numerous hangovers

Who did you work with on the track?

Troy Ranville is our sound engineer / Bass player.
Him and I spent many hours in his studio laying down a number of songs. On drums we had Antony Cook. Antony is a great drummer.
On this one we had some guys from Falset add some backing guitars in the choruses. They also, along with a group of friends, helped sing some backing vocals in the choruses.
The mixing and production was done by Braeden Kozy.

What’s been the biggest change in your lives over the past year?

Well musically, we have a song on the radio. That’s pretty cool.

Where would you perform tomorrow, if you could anywhere in the world?

Wherever people will listen.

What’s next for you?

I think we’re going to release a few more singles, and see where it goes.
We have a couple cool festival shows coming up that I’m looking forward to as well.

And finally, where can readers follow you?

Grantboyer.ca has all the goods.
