Where are you /your band from?

We were all born in the great white north, Buffalo, New York. We spent our young adult years in Key West, Florida then 2 years ago we moved to Nashville.

What type of music did you hear the most growing up?

We started out as a family bluegrass band when we were just little kids, so we were around a lot of that when we were touring festivals. We were exposed to Christian rock in our younger years, then we started getting into classic rock bands like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. When we discovered bands like Switchfoot, Coldplay, and U2, the sound of our band really began to evolve. You can hear a lot of those influences on the Them EP we recently dropped, where we put our spin on some of the cover songs we’ve been influenced by.

What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

It’s hard recall one moment that made us want to pursue a musical career. Our mom was a music education major and taught us all at a young age, and the family band has been our living since the year 2000, so it’s sort of always been our life!

What sets you apart from other bands/artists today?

For starters, we like to think what sets us apart is how we incorporate a lot of acoustic instruments like mandolin and stand-up bass in a rock-pop style. Since we’re all brothers, we have a unique bond… James Bond. We look like a bunch of Ed Sheeran impersonators, what with all the red hair and all, so we’ve got that going for us…

For those who have never seen or heard your music before, how would you describe your music for the public audience?

Imagine four video game addicts in a science lab working on a concoction with ingredients like Coldplay, Relient K, Tom Misch, Mutemath, and Thrice. If it ever blows up, that’s kind of what it sounds like. We tour with our own LED walls and light show, too. Kurt, the drummer and youngest brother in the band, is a genius at building animated and video content. We try to bring an arena concert feel to small clubs.

If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it best fit?

If forced to put it in a box, you’d have to call it some sort of pop/rock.

Are there any stories surrounding your songs that you’d care to share?

Our newest single is called “Figured You Out.” We usually write together and with a few co-writers in Nashville, but this one was written by Ben (guitar/vocals) by himself. It started with rapped verses over a beat he was working on, but since the little fella can’t rap (you know, the red-headed Ed Sheeran thing), it evolved into what you hear on the track. It’s got a real video game feel to us, and he claims he was channeling Buddy the Elf in the lyrics.

What do you do with your time away from music?

We LOVE hockey! We play in a league in Nashville with a lot of other musicians. Go Hellhounds! We are also big into multimedia, photography and videography. We shot the video for “Figured You Out” in VR and had a ton of fun doing that!

Any upcoming shows/tours/news?

The video for “Figured You Out” comes out on February 15th! We’re always playing live, and we’re already working on new music in the studio with Zac Maloy. People may remember him as the lead singer for The Nixons. He’s a great collaborator and mentor. – MB
