10qs: Josh Riggins

Josh is a super good friend of mine. He is an easy choice to have on the Knife Party Skateboards team. He kills it on a skateboard and has amazing balance and board control and we get along well. He is a genuinely nice person who is a skilled woodworker as well guy that lets his skateboarding do his talking for him. I love being able to help support Josh in skateboarding and having him on Knife Party Skateboards which he is completely invested in.  I always go to him for ideas and questions about skateboarding, the brand, and life in general because I trust him. We look forward to the future with Josh being a big part of it. -Jeremy Vincent

What got you into skateboarding?

I got into skating in 5th grade with a couple friends. Our skatepark had just been built and there were a couple older skaters that were killing it and inspired me to try it out.

What is your skate scene like in your city?

The skate scene here is basically nonexistent. Most the time I must travel to get a session in with the homies. I will say its kind of nice having the park to yourself for the most part

What is you to go trick to start your sesh?

To warm up I like to cruise around and get the legs going, cruise the bowl, maybe a 50-50 or nose manny and some flat ground. no tricks for warming up just whatever feels good

Do you feel skateboarding has changed your life? How?

Considering I started skating when I was young, it has shaped my life more than changed it. Skating brings me peace of mind and it is hard to say where I’d be with it!?

What pro skater inspires your skateboarding?

Any skater that looks comfortable on a skateboard inspires me! Prod, Antwan, Bryan Herman, Gustavo Ribeiro, Luan. I get inspired by the people i skate with mostly though

Do you prefer watching skate videos on social media or buying it? Why?

I used to buy the videos when they came out but now with social media it’s hard to keep up on everything. I miss the days of waiting for videos to come out but there’s so much on social media I can’t complain!

What is the gnarliest trick you have ever done? How did you feel when you landed it?

Gnarliest trick I have ever done is maybe varial heelflip backside nose grind. I dreamed of it for a long time, so it felt good to make it happen!

Tell us little bit about your local skate shop & what they do for skateboard scene?

Unfortunately, I do not have a local shop, but Jeremy Vincent and knife party skateboards have done a lot to support me and they do a lot for the skate scene! They have good boards for cheap and work hard to keep all the shops stocked up!

What is your daily routine before you go shred?

Routine before I shred… Ibuprofen, food, protein shake, stretch, shred.

Any inspiring words you want to tell the next generation of skaters?

Advice to the next generation… Do not worry about style, what level you are on compared to other people, or getting sponsored. Get comfortable on your board doing the things you like to do and that is where your style will come from. Most importantly have fun!
