When did skateboarding change your life?

Skateboarding changed my life when I moved to the Netherlands with my family 4 years ago. I met many skaters the same age as me at the local park in Utrecht, they have become my best friends since then and we skate contests together all over the world.
What is your favorite trick and why?
My favorite tricks are bs big spins and bs lipslides because they just feel fun and I like the style of them.
With skateboarding in the Olympics, do you think skateboarding can prostitute itself or lose the true essence?
I think it’s really cool that skateboarding has been added to the Olympics, it’s a great opportunity for skaters in my opinion. Many of my friends will be there in 2020 and hopefully, I can make it there one day as well. When was the first time you won a skateboard contest & how did you feel?
The first time I won a contest was 3 years ago. It was just a small best trick contest where I won some clothes but I was still super stoked and it felt awesome.

Skateboarding and music are very connected to each other, what do you like to listen to while skateboarding?
I usually listen to rap, I like both old school and new school rappers.

Do you prefer to shred in the streets or in skate parks? Why?
I love skating both, it really just depends on the people that I’m skating with and how the session is feeling.

Have you ever thought of giving up skateboarding? Why?
I’ve never thought of giving it up because my whole life revolves around it but there have definitely been times when I have been held back by broken bones or other injuries.

What inspires you to shred and evolve every day? Fame or just fun?
Obviously I want to practice every day so I can progress and get better but when I think about it there is no better feeling than just skating with your friends for the fun of it, that’s what motivates me.

What’s your daily routine before you go shred?
When I’m not skating I’m usually in school, at the gym or playing video games with friends.

Any inspiring words you want to tell the next generation of skaters?
I would say that the most important thing for the next generation to consider is not to try and compare themselves to pro skaters or people on Instagram because everyone has a different background and not everyone is fortunate enough to progress in the best parks, just do it because it’s fun! – Anton
