On August 10th, 2024, Washington Street Skatepark turns 25! 25 years of terror, broken boards, gnarly slams, and the meaning of D.I.Y. The event was jam-packed with skaters, and spectators watching everyone throw down their best tricks on the concrete. The first contest was on the wooden box over the loveseat.
With skaters from Creature Skateboards, Independent Trucks, Thrasher, and Monster Energy. Hands down the gnarliest skaters to watch, as they do airs, grab over the wall, and corner the transitions. Skating over the channel we had Nick Papa, Daniel Zapata, Chris Russell, and many more rad skaters shredding up the park.
Every time someone lands a trick or even as they reach the air, the crowd is filled with excitement, and some with beer, but everyone is stoked to celebrate 25 years of pure skateboarding. The loud music echoed from under the bridge, even louder than the freeway above. Here’s to another 25 years of terror at WSVT, a skatepark that will be a staple to the skateboarding community – Jesse Lopez
