What got you into skateboarding?

I fell off a bicycle trying a freestyle trick I saw in a movie called “RAD”. The fall was so bad I had to have emergency plastic surgery to fix my face, I was only 4 years old at that time. The next Christmas my aunt got me a skateboard since my parents would not allow me to ride a bicycle anymore for fear, I would hurt myself (how ironic).

What is your skate scene like in your city?

The skate scene in NYC is huge. So much talent and skate spots everywhere. Constantly on the move exploring new stuff the cities built.

What is you to go trick to start your sesh?

Ollie to warm the legs and ankles up.

Do you feel skateboarding has changed your life? How?

Skateboarding has changed my life. I have had so many paths I have taken in life and skateboarding has been the main influence behind it all. I have lost relationships, jobs, and friends all over how much time I have dedicated to my board. I live for it, and it is hard to put away.

What pro skater inspires your skateboarding?

So many pro skaters have influenced me. If I had to choose one it would be Rodney Mullen. Growing up watching him manipulate the board whichever way he wanted made me realize how much potential there is with a skateboard.

Do you prefer watching skate videos on social media or buying it? Why?

I have been skateboarding for 27 years so of course the go to is buying a video. I totally get caught up watching skating on social media though. Got to be honest.

What is the gnarliest trick you have ever done? How did you feel when you landed it?

The gnarliest trick I have ever done was probably this 360-flip grab trick I did into the courthouse in downtown Manhattan. I was kind of in shock after I did it since it was such a legendary spot. Still cannot believe I landed it.

Tell us little bit about your local skate shop & what they do for skateboard scene?

The local shop is called “Chapman Skateboards”. They have been making skateboards for local companies for many years and support the local scene by hiring skateboarders from the area to work at the warehouse. They throw contests and stuff occasionally, which is always dope.

What is your daily routine before you go shred?

I usually wake up and stretch, always shower, and usually grab coffee and breakfast on the road.

Any inspiring words you want to tell the next generation of skaters?

There is going to be a ton of people who dislike how you ride your skateboard. Most of the time it will be jealousy. Do not let these people affect you. They are struggling with something themselves and are projecting it onto you. Go out there and have fun. Do not ever forget why you started, and never forget where you came from. Stay levelheaded and modest.
