Young guys skateboard across country
It was a trip of passion and compassion when a team of skaters picked up their longboards, put foot to pavement and pushed through heavy winds, rocky roads and sweltering heat.
They were on a mission: to raise $20,000 for at-risk youth while touring the United States – all by skateboard and in less than a month.
“We’re really just trying to raise awareness and get more publicity out there for at-risk teens that need help and to get more money for mentors,” said Marc Juvinall, 24, of San Gabriel.
Besides Juvinall, the “Skate Across USA” team included Ari Mannis of San Diego, Brian Kahler of San Gabriel, Dahnny Levine of San Diego, and Jon Andrews of Alhambra.
They finished in 22 days – one day shy of breaking the record for fastest time skating across America. Their 2,896-mile trip went from Newport, Ore., to New York City.
The group is continuing to raise money for the San Diego nonprofit.

That’s freaking awesome! I wonder how many miles they skated a day.
I kind of want to do it…
About 150 miles per day, 30 per skater.
