November 16th 2017 marks a full ten years since the release of our first full-length film, Fully Flared. It has been quite the trip down memory lane to dig into the archives from the filming days and look back on the team, vibe, and love for skateboarding that lakai has always represented. As a skateboard company, you can only hope that your video will have longevity and remain in the hearts and minds of skateboarders for so long. In the words of Lakai alumni Mike Mo Capaldi, who was 16 years old while filming for the video: “This video means so much more to me than just good skateboarding tricks, it reminds me of my childhood and being so damn lucky to do what I love with the people I grew up idolizing. I’m forever grateful for those days and the experiences that it has given me.” Directors Spike Jonze and Ty Evans created a video that would completely stand the test of time. With 4 years of filming, theatrical scripting and effects, and the highest caliber of skateboarding, Fully Flared remains prevalent to the skate world and community to this day.

What better way to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of this video than to do a shoe colorway? Well we did that, but not with just any model. We have taken our newest creation, the Lakai EVO, and customized it with a Fully Flared color pattern and tongue/insole artwork.

The first ever EVO release consisted of a colorway inspired by our most recent full-length film, The Flare. It only made sense that we do the same to celebrate a decade since Fully Flared.
